Homemade Foaming Hand Soap Edition.

Below is a list of items I had used to prepare this supposedly simple and effective homemade foaming hand soap:

  • Bar of soap (any bar of soap technically should work, I used almond castille)
  • Distilled water
  • Cheese shredder
  • Pot for boiling water
  • Mason jar

I am sure by now you have seen the videos of how easy it is to make foaming hand soap? Well, I am here to tell you that I attempted the DIY and it FAILED. This is the homemade foaming hand soap failed edition.

If you have tried this DIY and it worked, what was your trick? Share below in the comments section!

Everything I watched showed these simple steps:

  • First, shred half the bar of soap with a cheese shredder
  • Second, I then melted the bar shavings with tap water on a low boil until they dissolved and the water looked creamy
  • Third, I then divided the soapy mixture into four mason jars filled about a quarter of the way
  • Lastly, I added the distilled water that was room temperature

After a few minutes, this is what I got, a jello consistency glue texture? Although this was extremely simple, the homemade foaming hand soap did not live up to my expectations.

EPIC FAIL.

Is it because I used tap water to melt the soap instead of distilled water?
